Saving: Learn from the Frugal Millionaires

Posted In:  other

Frugal Millionaire  Some people do not want to appear to need to save money when they can, and so they hide the fact that they are looking for "deals." It may surprise some folk, though, to know that many of those who do have money - even some millionaires - and really do not need to be concerned about saving money the way income challenged people do, are also very conscious about where their money goes.

In a recent article by Jeff Lehman at Yahoo, author of The Frugal Millionaires, he mentions that he interviewed 70 millionaires and learned how they save money on a regular basis. Some of the things he learned from them show an attitude of being determined to save money and not waste anything. Here are some ways you also can benefit from developing a mindset that is determined to save money.

Saving Money is First an Attitude

Before someone can start saving money on a regular basis, it is important that you realize that it is a mindset - more than a necessity. Once you make a determination to start saving money where you can - and finding ways to do it, then you can start putting more money away. In Jeff's article, he mentions that some of these people stay millionaires because of having this mindset.

Buy Practical, Rather than for Show

Buying practical - rather than because the Joneses have it, also needs to be part of that mentality. Reducing waste where possible, you can still get a new car that has been sitting on the dealers lot for a year - and not have to deal with the depreciation that occurs as soon as you drive off the lot. Let someone else absorb it - you still get a new car - for less than your neighbor paid for his, too.

Buy Quality and Avoid Cheap

It really does not make sense to buy a low cost version of anything if it will not last long. This makes it a good idea to pay a little more for something that will last longer. Generally, you still get what you pay for. This may mean that you also want to check with some consumer guides online or at a library before you buy.

Learn Many Ways to Save Money

There really are a lot of ways that you can save money. People often just waste it by paying prices that they can avoid if they simply take a little time to learn the tricks. For one thing, if you always buy some electronic item as soon as it comes out - that is an unnecessary waste. Partly because new gadgets are always highly priced, and secondly, because if you wait, a competitor will offer a similar product with more options, better quality, and at a lower price.

There are plenty of other money saving tips online and many of them can save you a lot of money by themselves. Tips are available that can enable you to save on gas money, grocery shoppping, heating and cooling, trips and vacations, insurance, health care, and so much more. Put them together and you, too, may be able to save enough money to
become rich, too.

Know How to Multiply Your Money, Too

Saving money and getting your debt under control is only part of the problem. Then, once you start getting some money saved, you will want to know the best place to put it so that it can start to grow and multiply. More learning is required for this step, too, and you can be sure that those who are not income challenged and want to save money continue to learn ways to do this as well. Start learning to handle your money wisely - and then you can soon have money to invest wisely, too.
