Cable operators are feeling the pressure from satellite companies, and you may be able to lower your cable tv bill with one simple phone call.

Check out what the current costs for satellite service are by checking out directv.com and dishnetwork.com .

Then, try the following call with your cable provider:

"Hello, I came across this advertisement for DirectTV Satellite that is offering service with more channels than I have now for $XX a month. I am happy with my current service, but this has me thinking of switching. Is there anything you can do for me ?"
