The typical student plops down $900 per school year on textbooks alone! You can save money on textbooks will preperation and creativity. Below are a few tips on how to save money on school text books. 

  1. Buy textbooks online-With most orders you will get free shipping over a certain amount. Just be sure you are buying from a place with a good reputation.
  2. Compare prices- Compare different prices online with a comparison engine. It will search all over the web to find you the cheapest price. Bigwords.com and WeCompareBooks.com are two popular sites that provide the service.
  3. Get used textbooks-As with most anything, you'll save big time by purchasing used textbooks.
  4. Get it from the source- If possible, try buying the book directly from the website, author or bookseller that owns all rights to it.
  5. Download for free-Download virtual versions for free at Freeload Press. The catch is sitting through a few advertisments.
  6. Rent your books-For short term classes, rent your textbooks. Just be certain that the price of renting it will be cheaper than the price of buying it. You can rent books from Chegg.com, a book renting service that provides free return shipping and speedy delivery. Just be sure to keep the books in tip top condition.
  7. Buy early- As demand increases, and supply decreases the prices go up.
  8. Return library or borrowed books ASAP- If you plan on returning your book, do it as soon as you no longer need it. .
