Discount Dating : 5 Perfect Dates That Won’t Make Your Wallet Weep

Posted In:  entertainment

A perfect date is not exclusive to hoity-toity restaurants, and certainly does not require any expensive gifts and exotic locations. Cliché as it may sound, sometimes a simple walk in the park away from all the distractions, eating ice cream and just talking intimately can be a much more fun, meaningful and memorable date for you and your loved one.

Fortunately, a park is not the only place couples can spend those oh-so precious moments and build romantic memories without spending a fortune. Listed below are some of the best activities and dates couples can try to strengthen their romantic bonds without weakening their credit ratings.

Karaoke

Sure, your voice sounds so much better when you’re singing in the shower but a date over karaoke is a great way for couples to just have fun, let loose and wake up a few annoying neighbors if you choose to do it at home.

Don’t worry, more often than not, your date will not mind how you can’t get the notes of Aerosmith’s I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing right. It’s not American Idol for God’s sake. You can even serenade your date, if you are feeling super confident, for that really cheesy but romantic karaoke moment.

Common friends can even join in on the fun singing anything from Madonna, Michael Jackson to Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald. Do not worry about the food being too fancy. A bowl of popcorn, fries, a bag of chips, a little beer or cookies will suffice.

The Beach

Do you remember the iconic beach scene from the movie From Here to Eternity? It is one of the dreamiest scenes from any movie, period.

You too, can duplicate the same timeless romance that scene had with your date in the beach, rolling in the sand not necessary.

Watching the sunset while drinking a glass of wine or walking while holding each other’s hands are tried and tested formulas for a truly amorous experience.

Cooking at Home

Can you whip-up a mean Spaghetti Bolognese? Or do you have a killer recipe for Mango Parfaits that can turn Julia Child green with envy? Cooking at home is a great and economical opportunity to impress your date with your kitchen savvy and show him/her that if he or she hooks up with you, dinner take-outs will be a thing of the past for them.

However, if your best cooking skill is boiling water and you think of a Central-American country when you hear the word Guacamole, do not despair. Cooking at home is still a fantastic way to spend time with your date.

The bottom-line is whether you want to learn to cook something together or just eat some simple dinner, cooking can be a fun and enjoyable activity for couples who are just on the phase of getting to know each other.

Just in case though, make sure a fire extinguisher is readily available.

A Scenic Bike Ride

Instead of using a car to enjoy a road trip with your sweetie, why not try to go out on a bike ride instead? Not only does biking burn lots of calories, it also is a great way to help reduce your carbon footprint. Perfect for couples who love fitness as much as they revere nature and its beauty.

Make sure you choose a route that has many picturesque landmarks and verdant greenery. If you want, you can also have a picnic after biking so you can extend the lovey-dovey time with your date.

Volunteering

It’s not exactly the most groundbreaking idea for a date but volunteering can actually do wonders for your relationship.

Think about it, volunteering together can be a great opportunity for you to show your date that you do not only care about yourself for once and earn points for being selfless, even just for a day.

Just by feeding and bathing the stray cats and dogs in your local shelter, or by assisting in building houses for Habitat for Humanity, you can demonstrate your compassionate side not just to your date, but to society as well. More often than not, your date will respond positively and with any luck, your relationship can lead to something more than just “dating”.
