There's nothing like seeing the stark truth to give you an incentive. Even if you're not doing so for your health, think about the money! The Discovery Channel's Health site gives you a smoking cost calculator. I worked out what mine used to be when I smoked. A pack a day  - at about $4 a pack - over a year is $1460. Yikes!

I wish now I'd saved that money because I don't know what it got spent on instead. This is the Smoking Cost Calculator.Try it if you dare!

That's frightening when you think what you could have done with the money instead of it literally going up in smoke. My sister is always pleading poverty even though she's got more cash to spare than me but no matter how skint she is, she can always find money for her cigarettes.

I used to but not now. I got tired of waking up with my chest feeling like someone was sitting on it. Greenmachine, I was just like that. You always manage to have enough for your smokes somehow.

I hate to look back and think what I could have saved if I'd not started smoking but what's done is done. I enjoyed it at the time and if it hadn't been that it would probably have been something else. I'll not kid myself that I would have saved it but whatever else I would have done probably couldn't have damaged my health as much as that would.
