It's the day for the stamps increase. I bought a roll of over forty dollars worth of stamps the last time I got them because I was tired of running out when I needed one. It was a hundred stamps. Now I'll need to buy another batch of stamps that are 2 cent ones to make up the difference for all those stamps, arghh!! I don't think I've used more than twenty of them. It's a nuisance but I'm not going to use two first class 42c stamps and give them all that extra postage for nothing.
I don't know why we can't have a cheaper second class mail service too. I'd use it.
I think businesses can get a second class mail service for bulk postage on those prepaid business envelopes. I could be wrong.
Thanks for the reminder cookiefan. I had to retrieve a letter from my mailbox this evening. I'd put it out to be uplifted in the morning and had completely forgot about the increase until I read that. I'll be joining you in making a trip to the post office for 2c stamps to use up what I have.
Nine times out of ten when I need to spend a fortune on postage it's because I've not been thinking ahead enough. It's not like birthdays don't come around every year. I could save if I made an effort to send overseas parcels by the sea rates and not airmail. I think they take 6-8 weeks to arrive.

That beats the rise for sure. Good point, Savannah. :) I had a letter returned in my mailbox undelivered this morning because I'd forgotten to add the extra. I had the 2c stamps in the drawer right beside the others too. Lucky there was no urgency in getting it sent. It was my own fault.

I have a few stamps in the drawer here (I just looked) but I'm not sure if I'll ever need them. Anyone want them?
I pay all of my billis online. I did not know that you could still send them via USPS.;-)

When you have to post a birthday card or reply to a wedding invite and find your stash gone, you'll regret saying that. ;) Snail mail still exists. It's about one step above the Pony Express.

I hate going to the Post Office, it's never quiet. I wish I'd got those forever ones before this increase! You're right, cookiefan, two would be a waste.
I'd use second class too. Some countries do have that. I know the UK does for ordinary mail. Okay, the delivery takes longer. I'd just need to be more organized about sending things days before I normally would. I don't send that much mail that's extremely important anyway!
