Here was something I learned about farmers markets. So no reason for anybody to be filling trolleys at the grocery stores with junk food!

According to Kimberly Morales, writer and recipe developer for PoorGirlEatsWell, some vendors are able to accept an electronic benefits card, which can encourage low-income families to buy fresh produce. Others may be willing to take a check, but paying with cash tends to be easier.

There's lots more tips on how best to shop a farmers market in the article.

When you have only two pennies left in the world, buy a loaf of bread with one, and a rose with the other.

That's a good idea on their part and I'm glad those kids would be able to eat fresher food. You can't beat a farmers market for freshness.

I was under the impression that farmers markets were small affairs. I had that very wrong apparently! Good article, bringmeroses!

I need to find out where our nearest one is because that food looks fantastic! Did you see the pictures on the girl's own website?

Those cherries look delicious. I've never been to a farmers market where the produce was so juicy fresh looking! When it gets nearer the end of the day, the stuff starts looking wilted. The stall owners probably say the same thing about me LOL.

Very inventive of the farmers markets to accept that type of payment now! I guess in this economy businesses should open every payment gateway they possibly can. It's smarter than losing sales.

That's right! And you can when you don't offer enough choices. I know I've went to sites before to buy and when I realized they didn't take PayPal, I didn't buy it. I only use a credit card online if it's a life-or-death purchase when there's no PayPal option.
