Saw this on Nat Geo a few days ago. They failed to note that Mr. Thornton was collecting Social Security disability. Isn't that SS lock box about to run out of $ soon?

I agree with Zoey. That makes a mockery of the whole system. You can play all the role-playing you want to but do so at your own expense!

I second that. It's just wrong when others are waiting in line that have genuine disabilities to get benefits for themselves or their children. I don't grudge any genuine claimant a penny.
I'm speechless. No I'm not. Horrified. There are no words for how wrong the whole situation is, honestly....
It would be interesting to know if he divulged this fetish (and it is a fetish) when he applied for that as part of the reason he needed it. Bet he didn't and no-one bothered to check his application too closely. That's what happens when paper-pushers and call centers are located hundreds or thousands of miles from the client/customer. There are no local checks done where someone comes to your door.

So true. My cousin used to work for the new claims side many years ago and back then she had to carry out a home visit for every applicant for the purposes of assessment. It was to avoid exactly these kinds of situations that milk the system dry. Literally in his case.
Social Security was a good idea when it was introduced but it's so abused now it's not even funny.
I feel sorry for him. I don't like the idea of funding his lifestyle but I clicked the link to his bio under the photograph and it said he's had mental problems for years.

Then there should be a social worker or someone like that involved with him. I was outraged at first and now I just feel it's all so sad.

For goodness sake! Last I heard grown men that liked to be treated as babies like that had a fetish, not a disability. I hope they make him pay back every penny. Who the heck would have approved his claim in the first place?!
