Hello. My name is Stas. I just graduated from Baruch College (NYC). For years I was trying to save money on my meals by trying to eat less, but many vendors wouldn't not sell smaller meals. Those who would as a rule charge almoust full price for half a sandwich. This often discouraged me from bying smaller portions. www.splitasub.com, a tool that I made changed this. Splitasub lets two people split a meal they both want. I split lunch with my friends almost every day now and hence pay only half price for half a meal. If you like an idea and the site, you are welcome to use it. Thank you

Bill, splitasub is not for everyone but there are plenty of people who work or study in close proximity to eachother and would like to split a meal (especially oversized one). Now there is a tool that can help them find eachother.
I think that's ingenious. I know I couldn't manage to eat a full sub myself. But what if I don't think the other person looks clean? Who touches the sub to split it between you? Yuck.
Bringme, you're correct. The cleanless factor will deter most people. If somehow vendors would put two halfs into two separate bags, without begging them to do so, the only thing you would touch is the money the other person gives you for his/her half. I did not figure out yet the how to convince vendors to do this.
I suppose a sub is easier to cut, since you can cut it while it's still wrapped. No ick factor.
I think I'd rather split it with a friend than a stranger. I guess that's a way to find new friends though! A belated welcome to savingtools.com, splitasub. :)
Nice to meet you, Stas and welcome. I'm all for saving the environment so if splitting a sub means one less waxed paper wrapping lying around from another order, I'm for it. :)
I like the idea. You'd think businesses would take on board serving mini-versions of subs. Okay, it's less of a profit than if you buy a full size one but isn't half better than losing the sale completely? Welcome, splitasub.

Okay...usually I delete posts like this where someone joins and starts promoting their own site right away.
But this one is funny enough to leave up there.
I'm all for saving money, but I'd never considered a service that lets you locate a person nearby that wants to split lunch with you.
Heh.
