Do you use one or the other, or both? There was an interesting comparison done here on which was more cost effective, buying paper towels vs. using rags and laundering them. Essentially they worked out about the same for light usage, while for heavy usage a rag was cheaper.

I use paper towels much more than I do rags. If I need to give anything a good scrub I use a sponge with a scourer on it, not a rag. Really rags are used only for heavy spills that a paper towel couldn't handle like car oil.

I used to use rags more when paper towels were more expensive, but not anymore. Now I use them for cleaning windows to shine them up because paper towels won't cut it, and for dusting/polishing like Savannah. That's about all.

Why do you say of course? Rags get so grubby and nasty. Yuck!
I always use paper towels. I don't like having rags lying around and laundering them does not feel worth the time or energy. The only thing I use a rag for is polishing and dusting and that's it.
