We are considering a cruise thru the Panama Canal in April via Holland American Lines. Leaving from San Diego and Disembarking in Ft Lauderdale. Most of the stops are on the Pacific side and only one (Cartagena, CO) is on the Caribbean side. Has anyone taken this cruise or been on a PC crossing? Looks to be a lot different than Texas.

Did you check out this discount page too, micharch? I just googled to see if I could find you any. It has specials for the Panama Canal trip  between Feb 2011- April 2011 and September 2011-Jan 2012.

A cruise is on my retirement to-do list. Wish it was me! That would be a nice time of year to go too, not too cold and not too hot.

Bring us back a box of cigars! :) I'm seriously jealous. That would be fabulous.

Do they make them on the boat or in Panama?

LOL! You need to go pick the leaves and roll them yourself. ;) My dad used to go on about Panama cigars and how good they were. I never saw him smoke anything apart from small cigars and ordinary cigarettes in my life. I think he must have seen them in a movie.

Ooooo! Take me! LOL. That would be heavenly getting away on a trip like that. Is it a special occasion, ,micharch? :) I wondered if you and your wife were celebrating an anniversary or special birthday.

Nothing Special Jewell, we just have not been a cruise in a few years and I have not seen the PC from a cruise ship (tho I saw it from land when I was attending Jungle Operations School there a while ago). I guess we'll be celebrating the "spring of 2011".

That sounds like a real dream trip, micharch. I've never been on a cruise. Lucky you! Where did you go before on them?

We went on an Alaska ship cruise and land cruise a few years ago for a couple of weeks.

Re: Panama Canal Cruise

I like the idea of a cruise but I'm a little claustrophobic. If they let me sleep in a liferaft I'd be fine LOL. I don't think I could in a cabin.

I think ours comes with a veranda, so you could sleep out there if you were so "inclinded."

They have verandas too? Very fancy. :) All my cruise knowledge and experience is based upon Love Boat reruns LOL. The bare deck would be fine by me if they would let me stow away!
