National Park Week entrance to all 392 national parks is free
To make it easier to experience America's Great Outdoors, the National Park Service is waiving entrance fees, so visitors can enjoy all 392 national parks for free April 17-25. In addition, many national park concessioners are offering special promotions that are certain to add to your fun.

If you get a nice day, this would be a cheap day out. :)

It does indeed! I don't think enough people take advantage of national parks. They are excellent value, especially if you visit them in the quieter months.

I've marked it on the calendar. I'll not forget if I do it that way. With luck we'll squeeze in a day that week. Thank you pennywise. :)

What would be clever would be if you could combine a park visit's free admission with the Red Roof Inn promotion. Its last day is April 15 and I think you'd be booking up for April 16 and 17. Just in time for this starting. :)

Now that would be cool! Smart thinking there, purplerain. :)

Don't forget that this kicks off tomorrow, ladies! Hope you all get the chance to get out into nature. :)

No such luck, cheapncheerful. We have unexpected guests that were supposed to be staying next week and turned up a week early this morning. I was looking forward to this too. :(

Take them to the park then! It would be a cheap way to entertain them. Guests always end up costing you money. They do me anyway. I always feel I need to take them out and do something or go eat.

I know what you mean, Zoey. When money's tight I can't even enjoy visitors because I'm already working out in my head how much it's going to cost me. I'm the opposite too. When I go stay with family or friends, I make sure it's me taking them out as a thank you for having me.

I do that too, Jewel. I'm paranoid that they'd think I was leeching off them or something. Which is silly because when I have guests I don't expect anything from them. I don't exactly grudge it if they don't pay for something at some point, but I do think it's impolite not to.

Shame really! This is now into the last days of the free entry offer and I'll be missing it. I just have far too much to do this weekend that I can't take time out.
