Re: I'm digging the new colors!

Oh, yes...did a bit of site revamping over the weekend.  New colors, menu bar, front page icons, etc.

Re: I'm digging the new colors!

It looks fantastic! I like the front page layout as well and the orange makes it jump off the screen. It's very sharp looking. Great work you did there, savingtools. Congratulations on a job well done. :)

Ahh..yeah, the "related function".  It's actually pretty cool.  I send the content to a third party service, in real time.  It assigns "tags" to the content.  So this forum post, for example, has the following tags:

"anniversary, Concerts, Cool, Human Interest, LOL, Man, The Woodstock anniversary, Woodstock, Woodstock Festival"

It picks the "related forum posts" based on how many tags they share.

Sometimes it works really, really well, like this tip, and it's related tips:

http://savingtools.com/tips/flat-rate-cell-phone-plans

Other times, not too many tags match, and it doesn't do as well.

I'll tune it over the next few weeks, I can train it on which tags to ignore, and I can also change the tags it selects by a confidence level.  Once that's working well, it should do even better picking related content.

And, of course, all of you that add new forum posts and comments help train it as well.  Keep up the good work :)

I think it's working really well so far and will be a treat if it gets even better! I'm seeing relevant posts that I missed before and would have still missed if it hadn't picked them up. The feature is a definite boost. Thank you for that!

I agree with pennywise. I've read articles this afternoon I would normally have overlooked and only caught them because they were in the sidebar. Nice job all round, savingtools. :)
