Do I have hard water? Do I need a water softener? Morton Salt will send you a water test strip to help you find out if you have any hard water issues. Just run the test strip under water to evaluate your water hardness. Sign up today!

Morton has a new water softening salt product if you're wondering why they would be doing this.

Our water's hard. I'm hoping this strip will tell me just how bad it is. Thank you cookiefan. :)

I don't know if mine is or not. I know my coffee pot needs cleaned out with vinegar every week or so because of the water. Is that the same thing? Thanks cookiefan. :)

I have to do that with mine greenmachine and it's lime that's the problem here. I would class our water as hard too.

Read the household tips there on the Morton site too while you're there. I learned a few things.  Thank you cookiefan. :)

I did and I liked this one on quick chilling.

To quickly chill a bottle of wine or champagne, place the bottle in an ice bucket or other tall plastic container. Add a layer of ice on the bottom and sprinkle it with a few tablespoons of Morton ® Salt. Continue to layer salt and ice until it reaches the neck of the bottle. Then add water to ice level. After 10-12 minutes, open and serve. Rinse ice bucket thoroughly after use.

All I need now is one of you to send me champagne for test purposes. I'm not a total miser! I'll supply the bucket and the salt. :D

I'll throw in the glasses. ;) Actually I hate champagne. I've drank it twice at weddings and both times had to stop myself from making a face. Being a grown-up's no fun LOL.
