In case you were thinking of getting away from it all, these days would be a good time to do it and go to a National Park: August 14-15 and September 25.

This article makes me want to go in winter instead of summer, Savannah. I'm guessing that once you get into late Fall up until late Winter you'd see lower rates. The writer makes a good point about them being much less busy than on the fee-free park days especially, as well as cheaper.

Those winter pictures are spectacular. I only have one problem with that. Winter is COLD! I want to be in a park when it's nice and sunny, not when there's snow on the ground. :)
I'd like the sun too but I'd hate the crowds, cheapncheerful. That's no break if you have to spend all your time in queues or traffic. I think I would prefer to pay the fee and go later in the season. Not as late as winter, just late Fall.
The last time we took a break it was more work getting organized for it than the break was worth LOL. I'm going to see what's going on at the ones close to home. Some parks have special events on the same days.

Now that would be lovely. When is it the accommodation rates for cabins start to come down at the parks? Anyone know when the off season is? I doubt it's then but that reminded me I wanted to find out.
