I've had two drop off a small gift in the last two days and it caught me totally unprepared. We got to know both of them more this year, and I guess that's why.
What should I do, run out and get something or not? They will know I didn't have anything for them or I would have handed it over when they did. Will it look worse if I do or don't? One was homemade candy and one was mugs.

I think the holiday stress is getting to you, frazzledmom. :) If you want to give them a gift, then buy one or make them a batch of cookies and pretty it up in a nice Christmas tin. Don't do it just because you feel obligated to. I give my neighbors a little thing but I don't expect anything back because I did.

Yes, what she said! :) If you don't have a tin handy, wrap them in colored cellophane or with strong wrapping paper into a Christmas cracker shape and tie with ribbon tightly at each end. Stick a bow on it and you're done.Don't forget to tell them what's in it if they can't see through the paper so the parcel's not left at dog height. :)

Seriously, I would not be worrying about it. If the roles were reversed, would you want your neighbors to be worrying because they didn't have anything for you? Of course you wouldn't. It's the season of giving, not the season of recriprocal exchange LOL. ;)

Let them show how much they appreciate you and be grateful for such good neighbors. I give to two of mine and never get anything back and I don't mind at all because I get the pleasure of giving. :)

I don't like my neighbors so I didn't have that problem. I will be painting my face green and slipping coal in their stockings tomorrow night LOL. ;) Can you believe Christmas Eve is tomorrow????
