Now that the economy is improving and card companies have tightened their credit standards to keep away the deadbeats, card marketing is back with a vengeance. The message to consumers: We want you back. “It’s a sign of how competitive the industry has become once again,” says Peter Garuccio, a spokesperson for the American Bankers Association. “Everyone is competing for the same wallets.”

I'm glad to see an explanation on why the sudden interest in offering us multiple cards. We have been getting credit card offers in the mail at least every two days over the last two or three weeks. Often there's two the same day! They go right in the trash.

We opted out of all junk mail (including CC solicitations) a while back and have not seen one since.
We have always used the Discover card and like their cashback program (1%-5% kickback). This month I had $100 that I used to reduce my monthly bill.


That's a good deal, isn't it! Over three months that's not a lot if you use it for everything.
