I don't want to wait until the last minute and be looking for stuff. :) I would like to hear about Halloween party ideas that don't cost a fortune. I can't avoid taking my turn of having the family over for another year. Can I? LOL

You wish. LOL! Is it for outfits or just food? There's a slideshow with 40+ homemade kid's outfits that you can buy from Etsy at parenting.com, or you can look at those for inspiration and make your own.

That Tater Tot costume is brilliant! I like costumes that are a play on words. Thank you for the ideas there, Zoey. :)

Cookiefan, have you got your stencil from last year? If you did this at the party that would be fun for the adults and kids. You could split into teams and have a competition. Just put the smallest ones with adults for safety. This was the thread with the stencil patterns.

Re: Any Halloween party ideas?

My best advice would be to keep it simple, cookiefan. Go for cupcakes decorated with witches faces made from orange and black icing or do them in white for ghosts: easy ideas like that. Look for cookie cutter Halloween shapes and use them on sandwiches. Let everyone know it's a night of fun and games, not pigging out. That lets you keep the food and the cost of it all lightweight.

You could make one central piece like a 9 x 13 cake decorated like a graveyard. Green icing for grass and dark chocolate squares or rectangles, or halved sponge fingers coated in chocolate make great gravestones. Add a few candy ghosts and bats and you're all spooky and creative! You can cut them out of fondant icing or cheat and buy some.

The string cheese fingers are ghoulish, frazzledmom! LOL. I like them, and the monster jaws and mommy dogs too. Those are very creative Halloween party food ideas.

So far we're counting on four adults and seven kids. I know that will expand the closer the time comes because my family has this habit of just appearing without notice after saying they wouldn't come. I'm doubling that to be on the safe side.
